Letter to Mercy supporters featured in Fall 2011 MOSAIC Mercy Magazine.

Dear Mercy Friends,

The gift of a Mercy education is precious and lasts a lifetime. As President of Mercy High School, I hear the stories and the words of grateful students and proud parents. Most often it’s the assertion, “I can do that, I’m a Mercy girl!” I personally thank each of you for your gifts to Mercy. You help make Mercy High School possible for deserving young women in these difficult economic times.

A Mercy education is second to none and most important in today’s world where compassionate leaders are needed more than ever. The gift of a Mercy education makes a difference. Read what this freshwoman parent, who received tuition assistance, reveals about the impact of Mercy, “I see her standing a little taller, and asserting herself with a little more strength. I see a growth in her overall sense of confidence. I am proud of her for performing well in her academic commitments, adjusting to the new social environment and rising to the challenge of sports on the swimming team, but most of all, for her ability to rise to these challenges
in the face of others.”

Mercy is a gift.
• Mercy High School is the largest Catholic all-girl school in Michigan.
• Enrollment is a stable 750 and our ninth grade class is 217 strong.
• We have a hermitage room in our chapel for solitary student prayer and reflection.
• 100+ students perform in our Ethnic Bazaar diversity celebration each year.
• We were the first high school in the region to have a totally wireless campus.
• Our swim team is ranked nationally and our volleyball team is ranked first in the state.
• The Art Department captured 20 awards in the Regional Scholastic Art Awards Competition.
• Our student paper NEWSPRINT and LORE YEARBOOK have achieved state recognition.

This year commemorates the 180th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Mercy. I am proud to tell you that the spirit of Catherine McAuley, Founder of the Sisters of Mercy, is present in all we do each day. You can look forward to a pictorial representation of Catherine’s story, the history of the sisters, and the history of Mercy High School in the near future.

Please know that we pray for you each day and that you have an opportunity to pray with us. If you do not yet receive the school’s daily prayer, call and give us your e-mail address or subscribe online at mhsmi.org. We welcome and appreciate your prayers, your presence at events, and your continued financial support which provides that precious gift of a Mercy Education. Go Mercy!

Love and Blessings through Catherine McAuley,
